How To Remove An Allen Bolt That Has Been Stripped

For any worker, the stripped bolt is like a pause for the ongoing job. You may face this problem and waste many hours in order to fix it. Here is your guide to fix an Allen Plug which has stripped in the hex bolt.

Step 1: Before starting any mechanical maintenance, the first step should be the safety precautions. Though this job does not need to utilize any complex equipment. But, it is always better to take the required safety measures to avoid an accident. So, wear your working gloves first. And don't forget the safety goggles to protect your eyes. 

Step 2: To remove the Allen Plug, the most important thing is the hex driver. Before making the purchase for the driver, you need to take the measurement of the bolt's head. Remember, you should purchase a bigger driver than the head. 

Step 3: Now you have to use the driver properly. You have to place it on the bolt's head firmly. Give maximum pressure to twist the driver in order to fix the bolt. As you are using a bigger driver, it will automatically remove the stripped head of the bolt.

Step 4: If it does not work, you have some other ways to remove the stripped bolt. You can use a screw to loosen the bolt. It may help you to remove the plug from the position.

Step 5: You may have to take the process called 'Cut the Head'. In this way you have to apply a deep cut in the head of the Allen Plug. You can use a rotary tool along with a cutting wheel to accomplish the work perfectly.

Step 6:
You need a screwdriver to execute this step. Ensure that it has a flat head which will fit perfectly on the cut made by the cutting wheel and then turn it around with pressure. After a few tries, the bolt will come free.

Step 7: In this last method, you have to cut off the head of the bolt. You may need a rotary tool to execute the process.
